Here is one gemstone that is out of this world, literally!
This gem may be small, but it is oh so special! (Only one currently available)
This is a gem of Peridot, a variety of Olivine, that forms in the deep reaches of space, that came to earth inside stony - iron type meteorites called a Pallasite.
These Pallasite meteorites are rare, only 64 are known to have ever been found on earth.
This one came from the Admire Meteorite discovered in Kansas.
Pallasites are the rarest of meteorites, less than 1% of all meteorites are Pallasites, and even fewer still contain un-shocked (heavily fractured) crystals.
Only about 1 in 100 of these of these lend themselves to faceting,
something that is not possible with shocked crystals.
There are a lot of these market that claim to be Pallasitic Peridot,
but the majority are just common peridot being passed off as Pallasitic.
Pallasitic Peridot have very specific chemistry, and none of the peridot found on earth have the same chemistry, so these can only be confirmed in a lab.
However since almost all Pallasitic test the same,
G.I.A. will not list which meteorite they came from on their reports.
This stone is very clean to the eye, but using magnification, some very interesting inclusions can be seen.
Depending on the lighting, this gem can look more green or more yellow to the eye.
This extraterrestrial gem, come with a G.I.A. gemstone report which confirms what it is!
A must have for the rare gemstone or collector of extraterrestrial objects.
