Here is a great rough and cut set of one of the worlds rarest gemstones, Benitoite.
For those of you that are not familiar with Benitoite, this gem is a true All American Gemstone!
All other species of minerals that gems are cut from, can be found in different places around the world.
However Gem Quality Benitoite is ONLY found in one very small area in California, which is also why it is the California State Gemstone!
With the color of the finest Sapphire and more dispersion than diamond, Benitoite has no rival!
This set has a nicely formed terminated benitoite crystal approx 7 mm.
What is even more special about this one, it has a neptunite crystal coming out of the benitoite crystals.
The exposed neptunite comes out of the crystals about 5 mm and is terminated.
There is also a micro neptunite also present at the base of the benitoite crystal.
Actually, the benitoite crystal formed around the neptunites.
With the crystal is a beautiful 2.00 mm size faceted benitoite gemstone, that is a beautiful blue color.
