Here is an amazing specimen of Herkimer Diamond Quartz.
This cabinet size specimen is a vug cut from a much larger piece of dolomite.
Within the vug, are many dozens of herkimers, from druzy lining the vug, up to 3 cm in size.
All of the larger quartz crystals are water clear,
and a few are petroleum included which can be seen in UV lighting.
In addition, within the vug is a mass of milky white calcite crystals, which fluoreses pink in UV lighting.
What makes this specimen even more special, are the large black crystals of Pyrobitumen var. Anthraxolite.
Finding crystals such as this on matix is very uncommon, and there are many of them, some even yet to be exposed under the roof of the vug.
All the sides except for the front, are cut flat.
This is a unique and showy specimen.
